Memorize and Reflect

Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people. (Jude 1:3)

Prayer Direction

Thank God for all the battles He has fought for you, and continues to fight for you! Pray for courage and strength to stand strong in your faith and resist all the attacks of the evil one. Ask God to help you know and follow the truth of His Word with growing passion and commitment.

“Live It!” Challenge

This I Believe!: Take time to go on the Shoreline website and read our core beliefs. Just go the “About” tab and go to the “About Shoreline” option. Read each statement of belief, and click on the Bible passage links to see the biblical ground for each belief.

Small Group Discussion

  1. What are some of the life-conflicts we face that might not really be worth fighting over?

  2. What are some real-life situations we face that are absolutely worth standing up, speaking out, and defending what we believe?

  3. Read: Jude 1:3. Why is our faith in Jesus worth fighting for? If we don’t stand and content for our faith, what might happen?

  4. What are some of the attacks on the Christian faith that we face today? How can we battle against these specific attacks?

  5. Read: Jude 1:4. The church is meant to be open to all people. But, there are people who come in who are an intentional or unintentional danger to the church. How can we identify those who are harming the unity, vision, and mission of the church?

  6. Read: Jude 1:5-7. These words are strong and shocking…but we must hear them. Why do you think God takes rebellion and sin so seriously? What are signs that we are seeking to take sin seriously, as God does?

  7. Read: Jude 1:17-19. What are ways that Christians are tempted to follow “ungodly desires,” and “natural instincts”? How can we recognize when this is happening on our personal life?

  8. How can the supernatural power of Jesus help us overcome our “natural instincts” that are often sinful?

  9. Read: Jude 1:20-23. This passage gives us ways to train and be ready to battle sinful temptations. They are:
・Building up my Faith (Reading the Scriptures)
・Praying in the Holy Spirit (Engaging in Prayer)
    ・Growing in Love (Passionately Worshiping)
    ・Being Merciful (Loving Others)
    ・Rescuing Others (Organic Outreach)
・Fleeing from Evil (Growing in Holiness)
Which one of these do you need to step into with more passion and intentionality? What is one step you can take and how can your group members pray for you?
