Memorize and Reflect

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. (Colossians 3:12)

Prayer Direction

Ask God to grow your compassion. Pray for the Holy Spirit to show you how to demonstrate kindness this week toward others in a way you usually do not.

“Live It!” Challenge

Memorize the Fruit: Based upon your prayer, deliberately show kindness as the Holy Spirit reveals opportunities to you. Seek to demonstrate kindness in a new way to a new person each day.

  3. Read: Colossians 3:12. What does it mean to “clothe yourselves”? How should clothing yourselves with these virtues affect your daily life?

  4. How do compassion, kindness, and gentleness work together?

  5. Read: Matthew 25:31-46. What strikes you about this passage?

  6. Why do you think Jesus makes care for the poor and needy the issue by which he evaluates his followers instead of doctrine, personal holiness, or something else?

  7. How can we live with a greater awareness that as we serve others, and care for the needy, we are really serving Jesus?

  8. Read: James 2:14 & Ephesians 2:8-10. How do faith and works go together?

  9. Discuss the difference between salvation by works and the “good works” God calls us to?

  10. What practical steps can you personally or we as a group take to demonstrate compassion, kindness and gentleness this week? What are some ministries we can serve in or projects we can undertake?
