Memorize and Reflect

“You shall not murder.” (Exodus 20:13)

Prayer Direction

Thank God for the gift of life and praise Him for His creation of such wonder and beauty in each person you encounter. Ask God to help you recognize and see His image in each person you encounter. Pray for courage to protect human life in big and small ways.

“Live It!” Challenge

Small Group Discussion

  1. Read: Genesis 1:27. What does it mean to be created in the image of God? How are people different than other parts of God’s creation?

  2. Tell about a person in your life who has modeled what it looks like to be a life-giver and life-protector. What do you appreciate and respect about this person?

  3. Read: Psalm 139:13-18. What does this passage teach you about how God sees each person? What does it teach you about how you should view people?

  4. In light of the fact that God has made each of us in His image and precious in His sight, what could a Christian say to someone who asked: “Why does it matter if we intentionally end life in the womb?”

  5. In light of the fact that God has made each of us in His image and precious in His sight, what could a Christian say to someone who asked: “Why does it matter if Christians feed the hungry, provide for the poor, and help those in need?”

  6. In light of the fact that God has made each of us in His image and precious in His sight, what could a Christian say to someone who asked: “Why does it matter if we make it easy for people to end their life when they are old, sick, deeply depressed, or just tired of life?”

  7. In light of the fact that God has made each of us in His image and precious in His sight, what could a Christian say to someone who asked: “What can Christians do to live in a way that shows how much they honor and care about life from the beginning to the end?”

  8. In light of the fact that God has made each of us in His image and precious in His sight, what could a Christian say to someone who asked: “Is it enough that I don’t physically murder and hurt people? Is there more to this commandment that would impact how I speak, treat people, and live my daily life?”

  9. What is one next step you can take to be more of a life-giver and protector with your words or actions?
