Memorize and Reflect

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”(Matthew 9:37-38)

Prayer Direction

Ask God to give you fresh boldness and Spirit-driven confidence that you can share the Good News of Jesus and that people are hungry to hear this message of His amazing grace and love. Pray for one or two people in your life who do not yet know the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection and His love for them. Pray for your church to be a place and people that share God’s love in organic ways!

“Live It!” Challenge

Get Trained Go on your personal schedule and save Saturday, October 13 so that you can come to the Lee Strobel event, The Case for the Gospel at Shoreline Church. Commit to come and learn to share your faith in natural and powerful ways.

Small Group Discussion

  1. Tell about one or two people who shared the story and love of Jesus with you on your journey to becoming a Christian. How did their words and life impact you?

  2. Tell about someone you love who needs to know the grace and truth of Jesus. How are you seeking to share faith with this person? How can your group members pray for you and support you as you walk with this person toward the Savior?

  3. Which of the reasons shared in the sermon this week do you find yourself using to justify not sharing your faith? How can you overcome this reason and become bolder in sharing your faith?

  4. Read: 1 Peter 3:14-15. How can we experience blessing during times of suffering (if we are suffering for doing what is right)? Can you share about a time you experienced this?

  5. When Peter calls us to “be prepared to give an answer…for the hope we have,” what do you think he is saying? How is Jesus your hope? How can you tell others about the hope you find in Jesus?

  6. Read: Matthew 28:16-20 and Acts 1:6-8. Both of these passages come after Jesus rose from the dead and before He ascended back to heaven. What is Jesus calling you and me to do? How are you responding to this call?

  7. Read: Matthew 9:35-38. Jesus taught that people are more open than we often think. If people’s hearts are often open to learning about Jesus, why are we often so cautious about saying anything about Him? What can we do to increase the number of “workers in the harvest filed”?

  8. Read: 1 Peter 3:14-15&version=NIV" target="_blank">2 Corinthians 5:17-21. What has God done to reconcile us to himself? What was Jesus’ part in this process?

  9. What does it mean to say that we have been given the message of reconciliation? What is this message?

  10. Where has God placed you as an ambassador of His grace and truth? What is a next step forward that you can take in being an ambassador of His grace, truth, and message?
