Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)Prayer Direction
Thank God for the truth of His Word and pray for discipline to read it daily. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you a love for the truth and awareness when lies are being spoken (even by you).“Live It!” Challenge
Infusing Truth: Identify one place in your heart and mind where the enemy is still speaking a lie to you (and you are listening). Find one Bible passage that speaks truth and corrects this lie and commit this passage to memory. Every time the lie pops into your heart and mind, recite the truth of God’s Word.Small Group Discussion
What are some of the “white lies” that people seem to think are fine to speak? Why are they actually dangerous?
Who is a person in your life that has been a model and example of truthfulness? What can you learn from their life and example?
Read: 2 Timothy 2:1-2. Tell about a person who invested in helping you learn God’s truth revealed in the Bible.
Then, tell about a person who you are helping learn the truth of God taught in the Bible. Why is it important that we have both of these kinds of people in our lives?
Read: 2 Timothy 2:11-13. Jesus not only brought the truth, He is the truth. What truth do you learn about Jesus and about yourself from this passage?
If we believe Jesus is the truth from heaven and that all of His words are true, how should we respond to the teaching of Jesus in the four Gospels?
Read: 2 Timothy 2:14-18. What are some of the false teachings floating around the church these days? How can we stand against these?
What are some of the dangers the church will face if we do not address and confront those teaching things that are against the Bible?
How can we firmly, boldly, and with wise grace, confront people who are speaking false words in the Church?
