Sermon Series: Miraculous Sermon Title: New Life Now and Forever
Delivered On: April 28, 2019
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die..." (John 11:25)
Thank Jesus for unleashing His resurrection power in our world and in your life. Pray for the resurrection power of Jesus to lead you to live free of shame and guilt as well as a life that extends forgiveness to others.
Unleash Love: Identify one person in your life who needs to be encouraged by the truth that they are loved by God and also loved by you. Take time to write this person a note, e-mail, or text that expresses the greatness of God’s love for them. Include a passage from the Bible about God’s love for them.
Small Group Discussion
How has your life changed since you placed your trust and belief in Jesus? What are ways you still want to see the power and presence of Jesus transform your life?
Read: John 11:17-44. Imagine that you were there with Mary, Martha, and Jesus when He spoke and called Lazarus out of the tomb. What do you think would have been going through your mind (and the minds of all those gathered)?
How should an awareness of the presence of the resurrected Jesus with us each moment of the day influence our actions, attitudes, and decisions?
Tell about a time you felt weak or unable to do something, but the resurrection power of Jesus inside of you carried you and filled you so that you could do what you could not have done on your own.
Read: 1 Corinthians 15:12-34. What difference would it make if Jesus had not really risen from the dead?
If Christ died for our sins, washed us clean, and extended infinite grace when we did not deserve it, how should we treat those who have wronged us and who are sorry for what they have done?
How can the presence of the risen Christ alive in us move us to actions of compassion and care? What are ways God can use you to extend His kindness to others in their time of need?
What is the problem with this view of life and joy? Tell about a time you went through pain and struggle, but still had the joy of the Lord.
What happens when a person loses hope? How does the reality that Christ is risen and that we will be raised with him (and are already living in the power of the resurrection) bring hope to your life?
