Memorize and Reflect

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. (Colossians 3:1-2)

Prayer Direction

Thank Jesus for willingly leaving heaven, coming to earth, dying on the cross, and bearing your sins. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what resurrection clothing you need to put on with greater intentionality each day. Pray for power to walk in the presence of the resurrected Jesus every single day of your life.

“Live It!” Challenge

Put It On - Decide that you will put on one of the following garments (in prayer and action) each day for the coming thirty days: Compassion, Kindness, Humility, Gentleness, Patience, Forgiveness, or Love.

Small Group Discussion

  1. Tell about a style or fashion you wore or got into that you look back on and wonder what you were thinking!

  2. Read: Colossians 3:1-2 What are specific ways we can focus our minds and thoughts on “Things that are above”? What are some of these things that God wants us to keep our minds locked on?

  3. What are ways we can keep our heart and desires on the things that are above?

  4. Why is this so difficult and what tends to draw our hearts toward earthly things? What are some of the earthly things that often capture our heart, affections, and love?

  5. Read: Colossians 3:12-14 What are the pieces of resurrection clothing we are told to put on in this passage and why is each one important?

  6. Tell about a person in your life who has modeled the styles and characteristics we read about in this passage. What have you learned from this person?

  7. Which of these articles of spiritual resurrection clothing do you tend to put on regularly and exhibit naturally in your life? How might this show people that Jesus is alive and risen?

  8. Which of these articles of spiritual resurrection clothing do you find difficult to put on and keep on? What can you do to be more intentional about putting this characteristic on and keep it on? How can your group members pray for you and cheer you on as you seek to grow in this part of your spiritual life?
