Memorize and Reflect

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

Prayer Direction

Pray for the light of Jesus to show you where you are in spiritual bondage. Ask God to set you free in the power of Jesus. Thank God, as your heavenly Father, for the many ways He provides, protects, and watches over you.

“Live It!” Challenge

Truth and Falsehood Search: Create a file in your phone or get a small notebook you can carry with you for one week. Keep your eyes and ears open for anything you hear that is clearly false, and write down examples of falsehood floating around our world, the media, the work place, school, or your own heart. Then, make a list of things you hear that are clearly true and consistent with God’s truth. At the end of the week, review these lists and ask God to help you hold to truth and recognize lies so you can reject them.

How does Jesus set us free from sin? How did He do this when he was on this earth and how does he do it now?

  3. Tell about a way Jesus, through His light and life, is setting you free to day and keeping you free? How can others pray for you and encourage you as you seek to walk in the light and freedom of Jesus?

  4. Read: John 8:12 and John 8:42-45.
What are some of the lies the devil is telling people today?

  5. Why is it critical that we learn to identify his lies and resist them? What happens when a person believes the lies of the enemy?

  6. How does the Word of God (the Bible) Help us know truth and identify lies? Why is it critical that followers of Jesus learn the light of the Bible so we can walk without stumbling in our dark world?
