Memorize and Reflect

My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (John 14:2-3)

Prayer Direction

Ask God to help you grow in friendship with Him now as a foretaste of what you will get to experience in heaven. Thank God for Christians you love who have already gone to be with Jesus. Give Him praise that you will see them again and that you will get to enjoy them and get to know them even better.

“Live It!” Challenge

Dare to Dream: Think about all the Christians you have known through your life and heard about (read about) in the Bible, in sermons, through all history. Now, imagine you have no time constraints. Who would you want to talk to, learn from, and get to know better? Thank God that you will have lots of time, endless time, to enjoy these relationships and friendships in heaven!

1. Tell about one of the best, most peace-filled, most meaningful times you have experienced with another person. What was it about this time that made it so rich and meaningful?

2. Tell about one of your most powerful and meaningful experiences with God and how you encountered His presence, grace, and power.

3. What are some of the things that get in the way of meaningful community with God? What gets in the way of meaningful community and closeness with the people in our lives?

4. How will the realities of heaven take away the obstacles that get in the way of deep and rich community and relationships?

5. Read: John 14:1-3 and Revelation 1:3-4
   Why do you think Jesus wants His people to know that He has actually gone before us to prepare a place for us in heaven? What do you think we should most look forward to about being in heaven one day?

6. Read: Philippians 1:21-25
   Why do you think the apostle Paul actually longed for heaven more than he clung to earth? What can we learn from his example?

7. Read: Genesis 1:31 and Genesis 2:18
   If God declared that people need people and the fellowship we experience together in His presence is “Very good,” why do you think so many Christians worry that we won’t have rich community with each other in heaven? Why is it deeply biblical to believe we will have rich and growing friendships and community with other people in heaven?

8. If you could sit with one Christian (from your life or history) and have a great meal and conversation, who would it be? Why is it good to look forward to times like this in our timeless eternity?

9. How will worship saturate every moment, relationship, meal, walk, conversation, and experience when we are in heaven?
